The Jefferson river is the third and final tributary of the Missouri. “The Jeff” originates near Twin Bridges, Montana where the Beaverhead and the Big Hole rivers converge. The Jefferson offers great early season opportunities at some truly large brown trout.
Thanks to spawning habitat restoration efforts in the Jefferson Valley, there is also a healthy population of rainbow trout. The Jefferson can dish out great dry fly fishing, prolific hatches, and excellent streamer fishing. The nymphing can also be very productive.
